The Larapinta Trail runs 223 kilometres along the spine of the West MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia. It’s one of the nation’s most celebrated long-distance walks and officially recognised as a Great Walk of Australia. The trail showcases ancient geology, dramatic desert landscapes, cool waterholes and the living culture of the Arrernte people.

We offer a range of ways to experience it: from our Eco-Comfort Camp based walks that focus on the trail’s highlights, to the full end-to-end traverse supported by camping. Whether you want a shorter taste or the complete journey, we have the experience and infrastructure to make it possible.

We pioneered guided walking on the Larapinta Trail more than 30 years ago. We were the first to operate commercial treks here and have led more travellers along the trail than anyone else. Our long-standing presence means unmatched local knowledge, highly trained guides, and safe, supported walking trips.

The Larapinta combines raw desert beauty, cultural connection and epic trekking. You’ll traverse ochre ridges, swim in natural waterholes, and watch sunsets that light the ranges in purple and gold. There's nothing quite like it elsewhere in Australia. It’s special because:

This network means you enjoy the trail pack-free and finish each day with good food, comfort and camaraderie.

You’ll walk around 4–6 hours a day, carrying only a light daypack. Our expert guides lead the way, share stories about the land, and take care of all the daily chores – from cooking to camp set-up – so you can relax.

Each afternoon you’ll arrive at our Eco-Comfort Camps where hot showers, hearty meals and time around the campfire await. Evenings are unhurried – a chance to share stories with fellow walkers, watch the sun set over the ranges, and enjoy the peace of the outback night.

We’ll provide AUD $500 per person towards your flights to Alice Springs. The credit will be applied when you confirm your booking, and our reservations consultant will work out the details with you directly.

You must be 18 years or older to enter and to join the prize trip. There’s no upper age limit if you meet the health and fitness requirements.

The Classic Larapinta Trek in Comfort is graded Introductory to Moderate (Grade 4). Expect 6–7 hours of walking a day on rocky desert trails, carrying just a light daypack. A reasonable base level of fitness is required, and the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the journey.
